Hi, my name is Jason Booher!
I love running, hiking, mountain climbing, bouldering, coding, yoga, swimming, systems architecting, and so much more. This website is a passion project of mine and I thoroughly enjoy developing it as well.
Where I Started
When I was twenty-three, I was stuck in a dead end job. And I was trying to figure out how to make a future for myself. I heard a lot of people talking about learning to code and I figured that's what I would do. So I started deciding which programming language would be the best for me to learn. All I could find online were people arguing over Python versus JavaScript versus Java. Nobody had exact answers on how to start a career in programming. I remember being extremely frustrated and muttering to myself "If somebody would tell me which direction to go, I would run that direction as hard as I could."
A few years later I ended up meeting a very dear friend of mine who pointed me in the right direction and I ran.
I Began Climbing
I spent quite a few years at a larger implementation firm learning how to work with enterprise clients and handle requirements across large projects. before working on enterprise projects, the longest project I had ever done had only taken a few weeks. I started taking on projects that took years to meet all the requirements. I had to learn a lot in terms of how to mentally process Large, complex, and difficult challenges.
During this time in my life, I worked remotely, moved into a van, and started going to mountain ranges across the Western United States. Long projects coupled with long trek up mountains tied the two concepts together in my mind.
Going up a tall mountain can be just as mentally challenging as it is physical.
"Will this be worth it?"
"Will my legs keep pushing me the next ^4000' to the top?"
"Am I going the right way?"
Your mind start makes excuses as to why you might not finish. Working on long development projects is quite similar.
I started thinking of the development projects as mountains and breaking down the small steps that I would take to complete the project while hiking up literal mountains.
Together We are Better
Hiking alone is possible but hiking with friends has powerful effects. Non consumable items can be shared, weight can be split across multiple people, And more eyes can point out problems in the path that just one person might not find alone. A team of developers is similar. Each person can have different passions and specialties which when shared as a group can make the entire group significantly more capable than any one person. our team and the people we work alongside can help each other to climb higher and more challenging mountains.
And that is why I decided to start a consulting firm to build a team of people who climb projects like mountains.
From the first day I knew I wanted to show other people which direction to run in. And I wanted all of us to climb together as a team.
So I named it "We Summit Mountains".
I pour myself into solving these problems because I know the view from the top is great. I hope you (the reader) and I can work together in some way, And we can experience the fun of getting to the top of some mountains together.
